Planning a commercial indoor playground

Use this practical guide to prepare your venue brief, choose a product family and compare project quotations.

1. Measure usable space

The leased area is not the same as the equipment footprint. Mark columns, emergency exits, circulation, reception, parent seating and service access. Measure clear height to the lowest obstruction, including ducts and suspended ceilings.

2. Define the audience and operating model

Age range, visit duration, supervision and peak visitor flow influence the layout. Consider separating toddlers from faster-moving play for older children. Do not infer operating capacity from floor area alone.

3. Match equipment to the venue

A low-ceiling venue and a tall leisure centre need different solutions. Compare soft play, adventure play and climbing walls against access and operational requirements, not just their appearance.

4. Compare the quotation scope

Request a clear equipment schedule, finishes, design revisions, transport, site preparation, installation, training and maintenance responsibilities. Confirm currency, payment stages, delivery terms and exclusions in writing.

5. Prepare for installation

Discuss unloading space, building access, lifts or transport routes, power, floor conditions and permitted working hours. Schedule delivery once design approval, manufacturing scope and shipping arrangements are defined.

6. Plan ongoing operation

User instructions, routine checks, cleaning, maintenance access, spare parts and staff responsibilities should be part of the project discussion. Confirm the inspection and approval process for the venue and destination.
